A REPRESENTATIVE for Tory Lanez has responded to the rapper being charged with shooting Megan Thee Stallion by saying “the victim” doesn’t appear to be seriously injured.
Megan Thee Stallion said she was shot in both of her feet by Tory after a video of her and the rapper being stopped by police on 12 July was made public.
Yesterday, Los Angeles prosecutors charged Tory, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, with shooting Megan Thee Stallion, real name Megan Pete. Although Megan is not named in the release, the charges relate to the incident on 12 July.
Tory faces to felony charges – assault with a semiautomatic firearm and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle.
If found guilty, Tory, 28, faces a maximum sentence of more than 22 years in prison.
Referring to Megan Thee Stallion’s recent performance on SNL, lawyer Jim Lewis, who represents Tory, told Vulture: “The ‘victim’ doesn’t appear to be seriously injured, since I saw her on Saturday Night Live last week.”
Following the incident, Tory was arrested on a concealed weapons charge. Initially Megan did not name Tory as the person caused her injuries or reveal to the police that she had been shot, but in a subsequent video posted on social media, she said he shot her.
Speaking on Instagram Live, Megan said: “Yes…Tory shot me. You shot me and you got your publicist and your people going to these blogs lying and s***. Stop lying.”
She added that she had been reluctant to name Tory and tell the police she had been shot because she feared for her life.
“I didn’t tell the police immediately what happened right then because I didn’t want to die,” she said.
Tory has not explicitly spoken about what happened but last month he released an album in which he referred to the incident on various songs.
