A distribution plant in Birmingham run by renowned glass products manufacturer Pilkington is set to close.
Management has begun a consultation with employees at the site in Nechells which acts as a local merchants’ hub for the company’s manufacturing operations around the UK.
Nineteen jobs are under threat but Pilkington said it was trying to find roles for affected employees at other sites within the group.
The plant in Nechells Park Road will close by the end of June if the plan goes ahead.

A statement from parent company NSG said: “Despite extensive efforts and the unwavering commitment of all of our colleagues, long-term market challenges mean we have had to restructure some of our operations and will close our glass merchanting site in Nechells later this year.
“We have informed those affected and will do everything possible in the coming months to assist them, either by finding opportunities elsewhere within NSG or by supporting those seeking employment elsewhere.
“We have already contacted our union partners and will be working closely with them throughout this process.”
