FOLLOWING THE announcement of his third studio album ‘Crabs In A Bucket’ last week, Nines has released new single, ‘Clout’, which premiered as DJ Target’s ‘Targo Embargo’ track on BBC 1Xtra.
Complete with an iconic official video, ‘Clout’ immediately reinforces Nines’ reputation as one of the most unique and best-loved UK rappers.
Melding together straight-to-the-point, lived-in subject matter and clever wordplay with his naturally aloof, nonchalant rhyming style, ‘Clout’ lays down plenty of home truths but remains light and accessible – a skill Nines fine-tuned across his first two studio albums.
The video directed by Nines and Charlie Di Placido (Kojey Radical, Jungle, Lil Simz) also sees Nines bring to life some iconic album artwork, recreating classics including Tupac’s ‘All Eyez On Me’, Dizzee Rascal’s ‘Boy In Da Corner’, 50 Cent’s ‘Get Rich Or Die Trying’, Prince‘s ‘Purple Rain’ and more.
‘Clout’ forms the first taste of Nines’ hotly-anticipated new LP, ‘Crabs In A Bucket’, which follows era-defining, UK Top five albums ‘One Foot Out’ (2017) and follow up, ‘Crop Circle’ (2018).
Featuring a slew of guest collaborators including NSG, Headie One, Nafe Smallz and Skrapz, as well as protégés NorthSideBenji and Clavish – two acts Nines is helping to develop behind-the-scenes – it is shaping up to be his most expansive and defining record yet.
