Family engineering firm Broxap Ltd is pushing forward in 2021 as a champion of UK manufacturing – and creating more than a dozen new jobs.
The Newcastle-under-Lyme firm is investing in a series of site improvements and bolstering its workforce as it responds to an increase in demand for its products.
Broxap is a UK market leader in the design, manufacture and installation of street furniture, shelters, canopies and covered walkways as well as outdoor play, sport and fitness equipment.
It is currently looking to fill about 15 positions across the company, ranging from skilled crafts people to IT specialists.
Current roles include: sales lead developer, bench joiner, product draughtsperson/engineering checker, quality inspector and software developer.
John Boyle, commercial director, said: “Broxap prides itself on its commitment to quality and that comes from supporting a dynamic and productive workforce.
“With 75 years of manufacturing experience, we feel we have the skills, experience and strength to keep pushing forward despite the challenges of the last 12 months.
“In this industry it is vital to maintain high standards and attention to detail while staying agile.
“We’re now looking for a number of people to join our teams as we play our part in driving the UK’s recovery.”
The recruitment drive follows an £80,000 investment by the company in a new timber workshop at its Rowhurst Industrial Estate headquarters, in Chesterton.
It was opened in October after Broxap decided to transfer its operations from a site in Hampshire to North Staffordshire.
Since its formation in 1964, Broxap has grown to include the Sunshine Gym, Hand Made Places and Stadia Sports brands which operate alongside its long established streetscene and shelters divisions.
Today it works within a wide range of national infrastructure sectors such as education, healthcare, local government and construction.
As a manufacturing business, Broxap is able to continue to operate throughout lockdown and has implemented strict Covid-19-secure procedures to keep its 170-plus employees safe.
This has included the installation of facial recognition and contact free security systems, daily staff temperature readings and health questionnaires, a reconfiguration of all its work stations and hourly cleaning regimes. Virtual site visits are also offered to clients.
