A mobile home supplier has introduced a series of improvements at its business after seeing strong sales during the staycation boom.

KTG Caravans and Campers has expanded its Newcastle-under-Lyme base to include a new warehouse for its caravan and motorhome spares business and increased its forecourt area to allow it display more caravans, campers and motorhomes.

It has also created a new reception area and office space, launched a new website and will soon be launching a new eBay repair parts shop selling used spares and accessories such as refrigerators, water carriers, heaters, hitch locks, cookers, winders and doors.

The expansion follows an increase in demand for mobile homes and a boom in staycations as a result of the pandemic.

It also follows the company’s milestone 10th birthday last year.

Karl Pearce, who owns the family-run business, said: “The lockdown has given us the perfect opportunity to finish the extension to our premises and set up the new warehouse, so we’re really pleased to be able to open again with a new look.

“We are really grateful to all our customers and clients over the last 10 years and really proud of how our business has developed. We’ve certainly come a long way.”

KTG Caravans and Campers, which is based at the Stonewall Industrial Estate in Silverdale, was launched in 2010 with help from the Prince’s Trust.

It has grown from dismantling caravans and motorhomes for spares, to buying and selling caravans, campers and motorhomes.

It also offers a caravan salvage service for insurance and claims companies, including collection, storage and disposal, and now has a successful export business shipping new and used caravans and spare parts to Australia, New Zealand, Asia and South America.

The StokeonTrentLive Business Awards are back for 2021 to celebrate the great and good of the business community from across Staffordshire and parts of South Cheshire.

There are 13 categories up for grabs including Young Professional, Growth and International Trade as well as the coveted Business of the Year award.

The awards are being held in association with Staffordshire University which is the headline sponsor and the Science and Technology category sponsor.

The event will be held virtually on Thursday, April 22, 2021 and will celebrate the great and good of the business community from across Staffordshire and parts of South Cheshire.

Nominations are now being accepted via the official website and the full list of categories can be found here.

The deadline for entries is Tuesday, March 2, 2021.

Karl said: “Initially we were just dismantling caravans and campers on behalf of private owners, but we’ve grown the business massively.

“We now work alongside insurance companies and salvage agents offering a collection service throughout the whole of the UK and Europe. We have a storage facility and can also offer a disposal service.

He added: “We’ve been in the industry for 10 years, so we know the ins and outs of caravans and campervans. We know what customers will benefit from, such as different layouts and different manufacturers.

“We’ve always got a good selection of caravans in stock for all budgets, ranging from as little as £2,000 to £20,000, as well as different manufacturers and sizes. You name it, we’ve got it.”

Nicola Warrender, who runs the business alongside Karl, said: “Customers can contact us if they are looking for any parts. If we’ve got them in stock we’ll get them off the shelves, test them, package and either post them out or get them ready for collection.”

Thanks to the expansion, and the post-lockdown increase in demand, KTG urgently needs to buy more caravans and motorhomes in any condition for reconditioning and resale, export or to recycle and dismantle for spares.

Karl said: “We’re always keen to buy more stock, caravans, campervans or motorhomes, in any condition, whether they’ve suffered from damp, damage or MOT failure. We also buy stock in good condition and even ones that still have finance on them.”
