Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our community radio station in Birmingham City as a Radio Broadcaster. This is a voluntary position that offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the vibrant local media landscape and make a positive impact within the community.
Responsibilities:
- Hosting and presenting radio shows: Prepare, host, and present engaging and entertaining radio shows in accordance with the station’s programming guidelines and target audience.
- Content creation: Develop creative and original content, including interviews, features, and music playlists, to engage and entertain the listeners.
- Research and preparation: Conduct thorough research on various topics, current affairs, and local events to ensure accurate and up-to-date information is shared on the shows.
- Voiceover and audio production: Assist with voiceover work for station promotions, advertisements, and other audio production tasks as required.
- Technical operation: Operate studio equipment, including microphones, mixing boards, and audio editing software, ensuring high-quality broadcasts and smooth transitions between segments.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with other team members, such as producers, technicians, and fellow broadcasters, to plan and execute shows effectively.
- Community engagement: Participate in station events, interviews, and external community engagements to promote the radio station and establish connections within the local community.
Requirements:
- Passion for radio broadcasting: Demonstrated interest and enthusiasm for radio broadcasting, including a good knowledge of different radio formats, music genres, and presentation styles.
- Excellent communication skills: Strong verbal communication skills, ability to engage listeners, and articulate ideas clearly and concisely.
- Creativity and adaptability: Ability to generate original and innovative ideas, adapt to changing circumstances, and maintain a dynamic and engaging on-air presence.
- Time management: Effective time management skills to meet deadlines, prepare content in advance, and work within allocated time slots.
- Team player: Willingness to collaborate with colleagues, receive feedback, and contribute to a positive and inclusive team environment.
- Familiarity with Birmingham City: A good understanding of the local community, culture, and events within Birmingham City and its surrounding areas.
- Availability: Flexibility to work during evenings, weekends, and potentially cover special events or live broadcasts.
