National fitness chain JD Gyms is looking to open a branch in North Staffordshire.

Morbaine has submitted proposals to transform the former First Potteries bus depot in Newcastle-under-Lyme into a gym which would be almost 30,000 sq ft in size.

The Liverpool Road facility would be operated by JD Gyms – which is wholly-funded by the JD Sports fashion chain – and would boast high intensity impact training areas, a free weights zone, a spin and cycle room and a dance and fitness studio.

“JD Gyms has been very keen to establish a presence in Newcastle for some time, but have been unable to identify any suitable premises. Given the site’s highly sustainable location close to the town centre, they believe this potential facility would be an ideal location.”
