An insurance brokerage which was launched during the pandemic is looking to double in size in the next six months.
James Dunning and Sean Thorneycroft started Purely Protect in May 2020 offering a wide range of insurance services.
In the last 18 months, the company has grown into a team of 12 which operates from offices at in Fenton, Stoke-on-Trent.
Now the business has launched a recruitment drive for up to 14 new staff as it looks to grow even further.
James said: “We had been talking about starting our own business for about three years. We knew we could make it work but we never took it any further because it’s obviously hard to give up a full-time job and a regular income, but lockdown gave us more time to put our efforts into starting our own business – and we formed the company in May 2020.
“It started with Sean and I but we soon started to bring staff into the business and now we’re at the point where we need to recruit again.
“We want to double in size by 2022 and there’s no reason why we can’t have a team of 500 within the next five years.”
Purely Protect offers a wide range of insurance services including life insurance, mortgage protection, critical illness cover and income protection.
It works with major insurance companies such as Legal and General, Aviva and Royal London and boasts clients across the UK.
The Stoke-on-Trent BusinessLive Awards in association with The Sentinel and Stoke-on-Trent Live 2022 are back and open for entries.
Businesses and individuals from across Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire are being encouraged to enter across 14 categories including the coveted Business of the Year award.
You can find more information about all of the categories here.
The deadline for entries is Monday, January 10 and the ceremony will take place on Thursday, April 28.
James said: “Everything we do is about protecting people’s families should the worst happen.
“It is a competitive industry, but there’s a big market for it because every single person needs some sort of protection, and we have built up a reputation as a company which does right by its clients.”
In the coming year, Purely Protect wants to introduce additional services such as Wills and home insurance – and that is why it is looking to recruit.
James said: “When we started the business we spoke about all of the things that we didn’t like about our previous jobs and made it our mission to make sure Purely Protect was a great place to work and somewhere people enjoy coming to.”
Sean added: “For us it’s very much about people’s attitude rather than their past experience, we value every single one of our staff.
“James and I train every member of our team to ensure they can offer full advice and recommendation with every policy.”
