The Stoke-on-Trent-based company – which is the trading division of the family-owned Sutton Venture Group (SVG) – has taken over the Andrew James brand as part of its global growth strategy.

As part of the £100m group, RKW designs, manufactures and distributes a range of small domestic appliances and houseware products for some of the biggest market-leading brands, including Tower, Black + Decker, Morphy Richards, Smeg, Swan, Akai and more.

The business employs more than 500 people which operate across three distribution centres and offices in Hong Kong, China and its Stoke-on-Trent head office in Berry Hill Road, Fenton.

It counts leading retailers Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons, Argos and B&M as well as Next, Very and Amazon among its customers.

SVG group chairman Rob Sutton said: “I am delighted to welcome the Andrew James team into the group.

“This latest acquisition, in line with our growth strategy, complements our brand portfolio and strengthens the group’s digital capabilities.”

Founded in 2005, online housewares retailer Andrew James has an annual turnover of £25m.

Bosses at RKW say the acquisition has created more job opportunities across all departments including sales, marketing and design, finance, IT, analytics and distribution.

Six former Andrew James employees have already joined the business.
