LEGEND: Gladys Knight is one of several star names slated for Nocturne Live
THE PALATIAL Blenheim Palace will be rocking later this month to the strains of Nocturne Live.
Transforming Blenheim Palace’s 9500-capacity Great Court into a spectacular open-air concert venue, Nocturne Live will also present concerts from soul queen Gladys Knight, Disco Classical featuring Kathy Sledge, Gabrielle, Laura Mvula and Mahalia, White Lies and Scritti Politti, and Sophie Ellis Bextor and Hackney Colliery Band.
Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Knight, Grammy-winning soul star Lauryn Hill, chart-topping Australian singer Kylie Minogue and 30 million-selling ‘80s pop duo Tears For Fears are the four acts confirmed to headline this summer’s Nocturne Live concert series, which returns to Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire from June 20 – 23.
Knight, who recently performed at the Super Bowl, will bring her classics ‘Midnight Train to Georgia’, ‘I Heard It Through The Grapevine’ and ‘License to Kill’ to The Great Court on June 20.
Joining her will be the spectacular Gabrielle whose hits ‘Dreams’, ‘Rise’ and ‘Out of Reach’ were the soundtrack to the 90’s.
Completing the bill is Disco Classical. This brand-new show will see the legendary Sister Sledge feat. Kathy Sledge perform the greatest hits of disco with the 35-piece Manchester Camerata Orchestra.
One of the UK’s most innovative orchestras, the Manchester Camerata have already turned their hands to the music of their hometown with the incredibly successful Hacienda Classical concerts and now they’re taking on disco.
At Nocturne you will hear disco floor-fillers from Michael Jackson, Prince, Chaka Khan, Diana Ross, Chic and many more given a uniquely orchestral twist.
The evening will also close with a spectacular fireworks finale over Blenheim Palace’s stunning lake to start Nocturne 2019 with a bang.
