CINEWORLD IS planning to reopen all of its UK cinemas in July, the chain’s bosses have said. The chain’s 787 cinemas in 10 countries had to close due to the coronavirus crisis and lockdowns.
However, Cineworld has secured some financial breathing space. The group said it has secured a waiver on loan covenant and it has agreed nearly £90 million of extra liquidity through an increase in its revolving credit facility.
“Cineworld has put in place procedures to ensure a safe and enjoyable cinema experience for its employees and customers.”
In a statement to investors, Cineworld said: “Cineworld currently anticipates that government restrictions related to cinemas will be lifted in each of its territories by July.
“Subject to this and confirmation of the schedule for film releases, Cineworld anticipates the reopening of all of its cinemas in July.”
The firm added: “Cineworld has put in place procedures to ensure a safe and enjoyable cinema experience for its employees and customers.”
